This is so awesome!
In a world where we can curate our information to be an echo chamber of information reinforcing our priors, anything that helps break through the myopia of our own thinking is most welcome. While it may be comforting to villainize and thereby disregard anyone who disagrees with us (it does permit us to avoid that most difficult task or thinking), it's helpful to our civic fabric to have to reckon with the often quite reasonable opposition. Doing so reveals a humbling truth: we are far more aligned than not, and it takes work to build a space where we can have actual dialogue. Let's do it, one provocative t-shirt at a time.
A friend linked Argument Lab to me. I went through the whole line up. Every stop made me smile and think about the distance we've placed between ourselves and what that distance costs us every day. So I picked up the Target 'T'. Looking forward to wearing it to the gym. It's a diverse crowd. Maybe I'll make some new friends there.
My therapist saw my “love will tear us apart” shirt and orderd 3 as gifts :) Kind of felt like I hit a nerve
I love the quality of the product, but I don’t really like the concept. Why would I give the other side a voice?
My last Zoom meeting went great: the first half I showed the God is dead side, and got some skeptical looks. Then I flipped it around and got actual laughs. Woke everyone up!
It was fun to send my dad the “unions kill jobs” mug. I’m very pro-union and he’s anti (from bad experiences in his youth). It felt like we could both exist in peace, without just avoiding the topic. Thank you, Argument Lab!
I feel like I’ve been waiting for this all my life.
I bought the gun/target Tee and felt a little nervous wearing it. That might be too strong a statement for me.
These designs don’t just make a statement—they start a conversation. I just LOVE them!
How about some more wacky ones, like the old African proverb that says: “when the elephants fight, the grass dies,” and for the other side: “when the elephants make love, the grass dies.” Get it? It’s about elites vs. the little guy.
